It's not exactly in the historical center proper but across the river. However, it takes 2-3 tram stops to go to the main attractions, and trams are frequent and run at night as well (or it can be a nice walk across the bridge in good weather). There is a direct tram to the train station (about 12-15 min) if you walk one block, or a tram to the center just across the hotel. A big Migros supermarket/dept store nearby that is open late by Swiss standards (8 pm), with large choice of food and other necessitieis. The room was better than expected. Furnished simply but everything is well taken care of. Surprisingly comfortable bed, large TV with international channels, stable WIFI. They even had a fridge and a coffee maker. Spottlessly clean. I didn't have the time to try their restaurant, but it seemed popular with the locals and had tempting aromas at dinner time. Reasonable prices for Basel. Everyone was very professional and friendly. Next time I'm in Basel I'll try this hotel first.
